Air Protection and Wastes

OKK Koksovny, a.s. pays extraordinary attention and funds to the limitation of negative impacts on the environment and health of people.

In particular, air protection concerns:

• ensuring standard conditions of the production process and controlled maintenance of ecological equipment
• continuous monitoring of technologies
• regular measurement for optimal production management.

In this area, we also focus on the compliance with the conditions of the the Act on Air Protection, No. 201/2012 Coll., including follow-up decrees, and compliance with the obligation arising from other acts (e.g. the Act on Integrated Prevention, the Trading in Greenhouse Gases Emissions Act).

A fee report, a report to the integrated system of fulfilling the reporting obligation (IAPOP) and integrated pollution register (IRZ) are prepared to fulfil statutory obligations.

A number of inspection and authorised measurements are carried out to obtain reference information for the calculation of the quantity of emissions and substantiating the compliance with the emission limits and emission ceilings.

The quantity of greenhouse gases emissions is examined by an external auditor on an annual basis.

The technology of the production of coke and chemical by-products is waste free. Wastes that are generated in the company’s operation are caused by the following activities:

• repairs of technological and other equipment
• reconstruction or demolition of structures
• oils disposal
• chemicals disposal
• using personal protection equipment
• cleaning premises and lands owned by the company
• origination of waste similar to municipal waste.
